Gadget I cant live without
When I started to write this, I thought it was obvious that the gadget I couldn’t live without would be my smartphone. While mine is about as far from a “smart” phone as you can get, I use it as a watch, alarm clock, telephone book, reminders, text messages and sometimes even as a phone. After a few minutes of thought, I realized that when I forget and leave my phone at home in the morning, I can still make it through the day just fine and this was supposed to be about something I really can’t live without. It occurred to me that what I really couldn’t live without is one of the oldest electronic “gadgets” around-Water purifier.
Despite the amazing modern technological developments that we enjoy in the world today, there is unfortunately still no guarantee that the water from your tap is safe or healthy to drink. And the data on water contamination make that fact all too clear.Water Purification Safe drinking water is essential to every living being. Access to safe drinking water has improved over the past years, but still approximately one billion people are deprived of safe and clean water(stats wikipedia). Over 2.5 billion people have no access to adequate sanitation. People are using more and more materials that are polluting the water sources that one drinks from. Fertilizer use is 15 times higher today than it was in 1945. Beach closures are becoming increasingly common.
The list of pollutants is long, and the signs of water pollution surround people, but the point is that these people are dumping contaminants into the small portion of water on the planet that is fit for drinking. Some of these contaminants can endanger your health, especially when they include microscopic organisms and bacteria that can cause serious illness.

As of 2014 the World Health Organization (WHO) has reported 842, 000 deaths per year from waterborne diseases, that’s based on their www.who.int website. It’s just sad that these deaths can be prevented by having portable, clean, safe water. Especially in remote areas, where sanitation is a big concern, water is unsafe for drinking and unhygienic. This affects not just the middle aged residents but also the children, actually, everyone in the community.
