If you could travel back in time , where would I go

Image
I often find myself wondering: if I could live for any single day in the history of mankind (from anyone’s point of view), what day would I choose to live? .There is not a fixed answer  to this question and so i decided to make a list of places and period I would like to visit,:) Annoyingly hard. Some possibilities : Go back to a time before humans, to like 80 million BC, to experience a world without humanity. And to see dinosaurs. But my suspicion is I’d get there and wouldn’t be able to find any dinosaurs, or if I did, it would be cool for 10 minutes and then they’d be eating some grass and I’d remember that dinosaurs were just animals and animals are incredibly boring. Go back to 40,000 BC to a place with ancient human tribes. Again, worried about the boring factor. I’d watch them sit around the campsite and there’d be a couple dead animals there and some kids would be playing and everyone would be unattractive👅 and I’d realize that this was a bad choice. Athens aroun...

An emerging technology that fascinates me

Image
Drive or be driven? That is the question News headlines have recently been emphasizing companies like Tesla and Uber, technologies like self-driving cars, and a greener, more sustainable future through electric vehicles. It’s no secret that the auto industry is in the midst of a dramatic transformation.  I’ve been fascinated by these changes and am curious how these emerging trends will play out in the forthcoming  years or so. The dream of taking a road trip in which we pay more attention to a new book or movie than we do to the driving task is well within reach. For starters, we know that self-driving cars won't become commonplace overnight. The vast majority of cars on the road now have no automation features or only very limited automation, like cruise control. Some unknowns are fairly technical. How well will autonomous vehicles   operate in rain or snow ? And how will they handle changing conditions on unpaved roads which make up nearly majority of our coun...

Gadget I cant live without

Image
When I started to write this, I thought it was obvious that the gadget I couldn’t live without would be my smartphone. While mine is about as far from a “smart” phone as you can get, I use it as a watch, alarm clock, telephone book, reminders, text messages and sometimes even as a phone. After a few minutes of thought, I realized that when I forget and leave my phone at home in the morning, I can still make it through the day just fine and this was supposed to be about something I really can’t live without. It occurred to me that what I really couldn’t live without is one of the oldest electronic “gadgets” around- Water purifier.     Despite the amazing modern technological developments that we enjoy in the world today, there is unfortunately still no guarantee that the water from your tap is safe or healthy to drink. And the data on water contamination make that fact all too clear. Water Purification Safe drinking water is essential to every living being. Access to saf...

Child Labour-social menace-

Image
Child Labour Child labour  refers to the use of children as a source of labour while depriving them of their fundamental rights in the process. Such rights include the opportunity to enjoy their childhood, attend school regularly, have peace of mind, and live a dignified life. It`s like  exploiting children for financial gain. Some industries employ children in order to cut down on labour costs since their wage demand is low. Causes  Illiteracy : A society with many educated people understands the importance of going to school and pursuing dreams.Illiterate people view education something meant for the privileged in the society. They will therefore not provide support to children so that they can go to school and build solid foundations for future success. Early Marriages :    Marrying at an early age is a ma...

Hobby

HOBBY - la musique What is music? By Google- the art or science of combining vocal or instrumental sounds (sometimes both) to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. As a teenager, I listen to it everyday. Music is one of the few activities that involves using the whole brain and that is why it interests me. It is native to all cultures and can have surprising benefits not only for learning language, improving memory and focusing attention, but also for physical coordination and development.  Of course, music can be distracting if it's too loud, or if it competes for our attention with what we're trying to do. But for the most part, exposure to many kinds of music has beneficial effects like: Effective therapy for pain Overall, music does have positive effects on pain management. Music can help reduce both the sensation and distress of ...

Movie Reviews

THE BIG SICK       Who would have thought Dinesh from  Silicon Valley (my favorite show)  would go on to write and star in one of the best films of the year? Rating: **** 1/2 Director:  Michael Showalter Starring:  Kumail Nanjiani, Zoe Kazan, Holly Hunter, Ray Romano Verdict:  Hilarious and heartfelt — a superb romantic comedy. It stars Kumail Nanjianias a stand-up comedian living in chicago trying to make it in the world of comedy all while the same time driving Uber to pay for bills and expenses. One night he meets Emily(played by Zoe Kazman) at comedy club and falls in love with her. This relationship between them (though its a comedy drama) is one of the most real ,authentic and natural pieces of on-screen chemistry I`ve s...

opinion on THREE MEN IN A BOAT

Image
I still remember the time when my 10th grade english teacher told us to read the novel "three men in a boat" as part of the curriculum.Initially, I was hesitant to read it(200 something pages :}) but when I googled about it, I was surprised to find out the amazing reviews it had received. So, I read the whole book and relished every chapter of it. What a huge moron I was for not giving this book a chance. And now, I just can’t stop praising it. So here it goes… ‘Three Men in a Boat’ is an amusing account of three friends-Jerome(whom I’m in love with),Harris and George and of course their dog Montmorency; while on a little boating expedition. The three of them concur of being overworked and tired of the daily repetitive routine are in a dire need of a vacation. After weighing options of a country trip and a sea voyage they settle down on a boat ride to a secluded and peaceful place. So, on a quiet Saturday they rent a boat from Kingston and while picking up George from hi...

The Risk Of  Nuclear War With North Korea http://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/dynamic/78/590x/Donald-Trump-and-Kim-Jong-un-North-Korea-USA-792735.jpg U.S. President Donald Trump described North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un as a " madman with nuclear weapons " who could not be let on the loose. North Korea has vowed to develop a nuclear-tipped missile that can strike the U.S. mainland, presenting Trump with perhaps his biggest foreign policy challenge. It has conducted dozens of missile launches and two nuclear bomb tests since the start of last year. Trump has said "a major, major conflict" with North Korea is possible and that all options are on the table, but his administration says it wants to resolve the crisis diplomatically .  Experts say that test appeared to have advanced North Korea's aim of developing a missile that can reach the U.S...
